As for the movie rollin has some really good points. I am going to say it like how I see it, when you google Shia name in the news or blog search you will get a lot on how Shia talked about Trans2 nothing really about this movie, makes me wonder what ratings this movie will have. although i do think you guys (ahem..rollin) bring up valid points about the attention being taken off the actual wall street movie during the cannes promotion, i’m not sure it could have been avoided regardless of the release date. the main problem is that the actors can only answer the questions they are asked. another problem is that even when they are asked about the movie, the media/public is still more infatuated with other topics like catherine zeta-jones’ nude photo shoot or cameron douglas’ prison sentence.
in my opinion, i think the pushed back release date is actually a good thing (especially if the reviews for the movie are good). yes, this round of promotion has been pretty useless in promoting the MOVIE itself, but these questions were going to be asked regardless. at least this way, the first round of cannes promotion has focused on everyone’s personal lives. hopefully, by september these questions will be old hat (because they’ve already been asked by the same journalists) and they can focus on the movie once again.
and lastly, let’s be honest. has anyone else been following the robin hood media coverage? they didn’t really talk about the movie that much either. it seems more and more cannes is not for promoting a movie, but for additional photo opps and red carpets.
